​Information Exchange Seminar 2014

Between the 2nd and 4th of December 2014 the Military Engineering Centre of Excellence (MILENG COE) hosted the Information Exchange Seminar 2014 (IES 2014) in the Pionierkaserne in Ingolstadt.

The topic for IES 2014 was “Military Engineering Support to Disaster Relief “.

 

The aim of the IES 2014 was to exchange information between non-military and military organisations involved in Disaster Relief Operations (DRO) in order to understand the possible contributions of military forces, with the emphasis on MILENG forces, share national experiences and approaches as well as identify areas for improvement and standardization..

 

Overall, 100 delegates from 21 different nationalities attended the IES 14. They represented NATO and its partners, national headquarters, EU, national defence universities, international organizations and industry.
Presentations by wide range of prominent and knowledgeable speakers from various international organizations, industry and the military community opened the seminar, followed by syndicate´s work.
Three syndicate topics were discussed:
·   DRO led by UN/NATO and NATO/partners involvement;
·   DRO in different environments;
·   NATO/partner nations capability for DRO;
 
And outcomes from the syndicates were briefed to the plenary for further discussion.
As a part of the IES 2014, the delegates also visited MILENG COE Industry Day.
The Information Exchange Seminar 2014 was successful event highly appreciated by all delegates.
MILENG COE will brief IES 2014´s findings to the 9th Military Engineering Working Group participants in January 2015 and use them when contributing to the development of NATO doctrines and NATO Defence Planning Process.
