Aim
NTMEC is a course designed to educate national MilEng staff within NATO Tactical Headquarters, (Component commands including the NATO NRDCs), to be able to fully function at the NATO Tactical Level.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course students should be able to:
- Students will have the opportunity to work on MilEng subjects relevant to this level and must complete syndicate tasks designed to improve their knowledge in NATO Planning Procedures, Targeting, MilEng contribution to CIED WG and Funding Mechanisms while also improving their skill at working in a multinational environment.
- Specific Topics include: NATO Doctrine relevant to MilEng, NATO Organizational Structure, MILENG support to NATO Operations, MILENG support to Environment Protection, MilEng input to Force Protection, MILENG contribution to Operations Planning Process (OPP), MilEng support to CIED, targeting, Route Clearance concept and planning considerations, MilEng input to CIED WG, NATO Investment Security Programme (NSIP) – manage Crisis Response Operations Urgent Requirements (CUR) process and NATO Lessons Identified / Learned process.

Rank Limitation
MilEng staff from the NATO Tactical Level of NATO Command Structure and NATO Force Structure (NRDCs) - (OF-2 and above) and Senior NCOs (OR-7 and above).
Prerequisites
Language proficiency:
- Students must have the following standards of proficiency in English (STANAG 6001): Listening (Good/3), Speaking (Fair/2), Reading (Good/3), Writing (Good/3) On a case by case basis listening and reading levels can be lowered to level 2 proficiency.
Computer Skills:
- Students must be familiar with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel capabilities.
