The MILENG COE's purpose is to provide recognised MILENG expertise and experience to enable the continued development of Sponsoring Nations (SN) and Alliance military engineering capability and interoperability. It also provides opportunities to enhance education and training, to assist in doctrine development and/or to test and validate concepts through experimentation.
The Director MILENG COE, a Colonel (OF 5), is provided by the Framework Nation GERMANY. He reports directly to the MILENG COE Steering Committee, which is established by the Sponsoring Nations for guidance, oversight and decisions on all matters concerning the administration, policy, and operation of the MILENG COE. The MILENG COE is part of the Allied Command Transformation (ACT), Transformation Network, (which includes all COEs) coordinated by HQ SACT which is the agent responsible for coordinating the efforts of the MILENG COE within NATO.
The structure reflects the mission of the MILENG COE. It consists of a Command Group and two executing branches; Policies, Concepts and Doctrine Branch and Training and Education Branch. They are supported by the Support Branch.
